Topic:

Advertisements can’t be avoided no matter what we do or where we go. If a television is turned on, if we step foot in a mall, if we attend a sporting event we will surely witness some form of advertisement. This unit is specifically built for grade five students to be aware of the media trying to manipulate children as well as adults into buying all sorts of unnecessary products. With a wide variety of engaging activities, creative lessons, and plenty of groups debates and discussion students will ultimately learn to make better choices and hopefully gain media awareness. The teacher will not be lecturing very much and allowing students to construct their own knowledge by building off each other`s idea.
